Marriage and Family

WEDNESDAY NIGHT | 6:30pm - 8:00pm
8 September - 8 December

Meeting in the Fireside Room

Join the BBC Marriage and Family Ministry as we go through a couple of studies by Gary Thomas: The Power of Love - Building Relationships that Work (6 sessions) and It Starts at Home (6 session). The entire class will be strongly relationship focused with some discussion of building a legacy of faith through relationship.

Relationship is the most precious thing between family members, and it is our strongest ally in raising a healthy, happy, God-honoring family. In The Power Of Love we will encourage, equip, and empower you to grow closer to your children and each other every day, building strong bonds in which your family can intentionally cultivate love and faith. We will apply practical wisdom to our families with thoughtful and explorational discussion, provide creative exercises to help you better understand your children and yourself, scripture to keep us grounded us on track in the word, down to earth advice from experienced mentors, and “next step” activities for implementing what we’ve learned in every day life.

Both studies are available on RightNow Media at the following links:

Meeting in the Foyer

Join the BBC Marriage and Family Ministry as we go through Dr. Emerson Eggerichs' book, Love and Respect. Discover the single greatest secret to a successful marriage

Psychological studies affirm it, and the Bible has been saying it for ages. Cracking the communication code between husband and wife involves understanding one thing: that unconditional respect is as powerful for him as unconditional love is for her. It's the secret to marriage that every couple seeks, and yet few couples ever find.

Based on the biblical passage from Ephesians 5:33. Dr. Emerson Eggerichs' premise is that communication between a husband and wife is often frustrated because of the vastly different ways in which men and women perceive love. Women are wired to need unconditional love and men need to feel unconditionally respected. Revitalize the love in your marriage!

We have two amazing couples that will be co-leading the study this semester: Donna & Robert Lagoudis, and Trish & Sam Moran. We can't wait to see how each couple will bring something unique and special to the table!

Donna and I have no special qualifications... we have been called to minister to others. As matter of fact, God placed marriage ministry on our hearts in November of 2013 at a FamilyLife Weekend to Remember. We know what it means to struggle in marriage and after 25 years, we don't have it all figured out, but we have a strong, Christ centered marriage and want to help others. In addition to running events, retreats, and Bible studies focused on building stronger marriages, we work with couples in small group intensive settings, and counsel couples, as well. We studied and conducted our supervised counseling under Tim Russo (Relational Impact Group) from late 2014 through October 2017, when we each earned our Biblical Counselor Certification through the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC). Bottom line, we have seen amazing things happen with couples that surrender their hearts and wills to Christ... they begin connecting as a couple and see more than a restoration... they can see a totally new marriage.

Trish and I are parents of four children, navigating the waters of family relationships and discipleship just like everyone else. We are both children of divorced and blended families and through our personal upbringing, as well as our time teaching and training in marriage ministry, and student and adult Bible studies, we have felt the clear call of the Lord on our lives to a whole family model of ministry. It is our desire to partner with and invest in families - moms and dads, stepmoms and stepdads, husbands and wives, grandparents, and children to encourage and empower one another in our homes, marriages, parenting, discipleship, and leadership and to live out God’s intended design for our families. We are learning and growing together with the families we seek to serve and we believe that through a strong alliance between the church and the family we can build a generational legacy of love, faith, and community.
